Car Part Maintenance Guide

Engine Oil
What it does: Lubricates engine parts and helps keep the engine cool and clean. What to check: Oil level, color, and any warning lights on the dashboard. Recommended interval: Change every 8,000, depending on oil type and driving style.

Spark Plugs
What it does: Ignite the fuel–air mixture so the engine can run. What to check: Hard starting, rough idle, poor fuel economy, or misfires. Recommended interval: Replace every 30,000–60,000 km, or as specified in your manual.

Brakes
What it does: Slow down and stop the car safely. What to check: Brake pad thickness, squealing noises, vibration, or a soft brake pedal. Recommended interval: Inspect every 10,000–20,000 km; pads often last 30,000–50,000 km.

Battery
What it does: Supplies power to start the engine and run electrical systems. What to check: Corrosion on terminals, secure mounting, and slow cranking when starting. Recommended interval: Test yearly after 3 years; many batteries last 60,000–100,000 km.

Air Filter
What it does: Cleans the air going into the engine for better performance. What to check: Dirt, dust buildup, and reduced engine power or higher fuel use. Recommended interval: Replace every 20,000–30,000 km, more often in dusty conditions.

Coolant
What it does: Helps keep the engine at the right temperature and prevents freezing or overheating. What to check: Coolant level in the reservoir, leaks, and coolant color. Recommended interval: Change every 40,000–80,000 km, depending on coolant type.
Note: Maintenance intervals can vary by car brand, model, engine type, and driving conditions. Always check your owner’s manual or follow your mechanic’s advice for the exact service schedule.
